The metadata tab, located on the top of the side menu, opens Metadata View that displays technical metadata of the uploaded file, as well as custom metadata added in Media Pocket.
Basic Functionalities
In the Metadata View, you can explore various metadata groups associated with an asset or project. These groups can be toggled open or closed by clicking on the group dropdown. Your selection will persist in the browser memory, making closed groups remain closed across all assets and projects, while opened groups stay open. Please note that the 'open by default' feature has been removed as a result of this.
Modifiable Metadata
Please note that editing metadata is only possible for Media Pocket Custom Fields metadata.
Modes
The Metadata View has two modes: Edit and View. The default mode when landing on an asset or project is always View. Please note that editing metadata is only possible for Media Pocket Custom Fields metadata.
Adding and Editing Data
In the Metadata View, Custom Fields data can be added, edited and deleted within the same view, by switching to Edit mode.
To add Custom Field data to an asset or project, click the "+Add field group" button.
In the popup, choose a field and add the necessary information, then click 'Add'. You can add additional field groups by clicking 'Add field group' again. Newly added groups will have a green label, and a green dot will indicate fields with newly added data.
To add or edit data in existing groups while in Edit mode, click the input area of a field. When new data is added or existing data is edited, an orange dot will appear, and the group label will change to orange. Changes will be saved after clicking 'Save all'.
To empty a field, click the trash bin icon. To restore a field to its previous state, click the restore icon.
Groups can be removed by clicking the Remove group icon.
All data marked for removal will be displayed with a red label. To undo this, click the restore button. Otherwise, the data will be permanently removed when you click 'Save all'. You can revert all changes at any time by clicking 'Discard all'.
Unmodifiable Metadata
File information, that Media Pocket reads during the upload process, is not modifiable.
EXIF/IPTC
EXIF and IPTC tab cover technical metadata, such as resolution, size, etc, and administrative metadata such as copyright, creator, and keywords.
Technical Metadata (General, Video, Audio, Other)
Depending on the file type there is more technical metadata about the asset. The information covers everything from the proportions and video frame rate to file size and format.
For video assets, the technical metadata includes more in-depth information on both the video and audio files.
